Featuring work by more than twelve innovators\, the exhibition highlights the aesthetics of emerging forest-based research—from technology and engineering to design and artist-scientist collaborations. In this moment of climate uncertainty\, World Forestry Center is leveraging creativity\, art\, and storytelling to spotlight forest-based solutions as an optimistic path forward. Forest Hope Through Innovation is designed to spark climate hope and inspire community-based approaches that support resilient forests for generations to come. Included with museum admission.

SUMMARY:Enduring Impressions: Contemporary Woodblock Prints
DESCRIPTION:This March\, step into a world where nature-themed prints meet Portland Japanese Garden’s springtime vibrance in Enduring Impressions: Contemporary Woodblock Prints. Featuring the art of mokuhanga (木版画)\, Japanese-style woodblock printmaking\, this exhibition reveals how a centuries-old tradition is experiencing a contemporary revival among artists around the world\, who use the quiet power and unique characteristics of woodblock printmaking to create captivating works of art. Mokuhanga has been embraced by artists as an environmentally friendly art form that uses wood\, water-based pigments\, and paper made from plant fibers. The exhibition’s featured artists are among the growing international movement where meticulously crafted art prints incorporating these traditional tools and techniques are complemented by alternative printmaking technologies and strategies for contemporary expression. This exhibition marks the Garden’s first collaboration with the Honolulu Museum of Art and is co-curated by Stephen Salel\, the Museum’s Curator of Japanese Art. Across the galleries at Portland Japanese Garden\, Enduring Impressions presents an eclectic range of contemporary prints\, custom-made for the show\,  alongside a behind-the-scenes look at the process\, history and future of this iconic art form. SUMMARY:Public Tour Guides Volunteer Training
DESCRIPTION:Hoyt Arboretum is recruiting volunteer tour guides for the 2026 public tour season! Tour guides lead an informative and engaging 60-minute tour along the Arboretum’s trails to teach visitors about Hoyt Arboretum\, its trees and plants\, and the Arboretum’s role in global conservation. Public tours are scheduled on Sundays at 11am from April through October. This volunteer position is a great opportunity for individuals with an interest in trees\, plants\, and conservation to expand their knowledge while developing public speaking and visitor engagement skills. Join us at the Public Tour Guide volunteer training on Sunday\, March 22 from 9am-12pm to learn more about Hoyt’s public tour program. During the training\, volunteers will learn best practices for leading public tours including communication\, visitor engagement\, and group management. The training will also cover seasonal tour content and additional resources for expanding your knowledge of the trees and plants found in Hoyt Arboretum. New Tour Guides will be required to participate in follow-up training sessions prior to leading tours at the Arboretum. This event is coordinated by Hoyt Arboretum\, registration is required through their website.
