In this moment of climate uncertainty\, World Forestry Center is leveraging creativity\, art\, and storytelling to spotlight forest-based solutions as an optimistic path forward. Forest Hope Through Innovation is designed to spark climate hope and inspire community-based approaches that support resilient forests for generations to come. Included with museum admission.

SUMMARY:Enduring Impressions: Contemporary Woodblock Prints
DESCRIPTION:This March\, step into a world where nature-themed prints meet Portland Japanese Garden’s springtime vibrance in Enduring Impressions: Contemporary Woodblock Prints. Featuring the art of mokuhanga (木版画)\, Japanese-style woodblock printmaking\, this exhibition reveals how a centuries-old tradition is experiencing a contemporary revival among artists around the world\, who use the quiet power and unique characteristics of woodblock printmaking to create captivating works of art. Mokuhanga has been embraced by artists as an environmentally friendly art form that uses wood\, water-based pigments\, and paper made from plant fibers. The exhibition’s featured artists are among the growing international movement where meticulously crafted art prints incorporating these traditional tools and techniques are complemented by alternative printmaking technologies and strategies for contemporary expression. This exhibition marks the Garden’s first collaboration with the Honolulu Museum of Art and is co-curated by Stephen Salel\, the Museum’s Curator of Japanese Art. Across the galleries at Portland Japanese Garden\, Enduring Impressions presents an eclectic range of contemporary prints\, custom-made for the show\,  alongside a behind-the-scenes look at the process\, history and future of this iconic art form. SUMMARY:Ceramic Flower Vase
DESCRIPTION:Join Angela from The Nature Atelier for a ceramic workshop that celebrates the beauty of plants and the coming of Spring. In this workshop we will make a vase infused with nature. You will turn a slab of clay into a usable work of art with the imprints of your favorite flowers and leaves just in time for all the spring flowers to return. Participants will have the opportunity to add pops of color to their creations. All materials are provided\, but feel free to bring plant clippings from your garden to include in your designs. This event is coordinated by Hoyt Arboretum and registration is required through their website.

DESCRIPTION:Join us once a month and explore your creative nature here at World Forestry Center’s Discovery Museum with our friend at RAD Creative. From Forests in a Bottle to paper snails\, seed shares\, and fairy houses – tap into your creative side and make something memorable. This event is family-friendly\, and crafts are geared toward kids who can independently use scissors\, glue sticks\, and basic school supplies or with parental assistance. All crafts vary in presentation. Adult supervision at all times is required. Craft supplies\, tools\, and guidance are included with museum admission and do not require pre-registration.
