DESCRIPTION:Portland Japanese Garden is delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed artist Jun Kaneko (b. 1942-). Kaneko\, recently honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center\, has made major contributions to the field of sculptural art on a global scale\, exploring the relationships between art\, nature\, and people with the bold and placement of his works.\nKaneko’s famously large and evocative outdoor ceramic statues will be installed across our spectacular garden spaces\, creating a stunning juxtaposition with the fiery reds and oranges of our maples in fall. Join arborist Casey Clapp of the podcast Completely Arbortrary on an education walk through Hoyt Arboretum focused on how to identify trees using only the clues left behind after their leaves fall away. This course will meander through the arboretum and show you how to identify common trees in our area\, and provide a framework for what to look for when trying to identify an unknown tree without using the leaves.
