Kaneko\, recently honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center\, has made major contributions to the field of sculptural art on a global scale\, exploring the relationships between art\, nature\, and people with the bold and placement of his works.\nKaneko’s famously large and evocative outdoor ceramic statues will be installed across our spectacular garden spaces\, creating a stunning juxtaposition with the fiery reds and oranges of our maples in fall. DESCRIPTION:Volunteer at Hoyt Arboretum to care for our trees and trails with a variety of hands-on stewardship projects.\nProjects vary for each crew depending on the needs of the season\, but often include invasive species removal\, weeding and mulching\, trail maintenance\, and more. With 189-acres and more than 6\,000 trees along 12 miles of trails\, volunteers are incredibly important to maintaining Hoyt Arboretum’s tree collection and trail system\, and it’s a unique opportunity for volunteers to learn about and care for rare and unusual trees and plants from around the world. \nStewardship crews occur rain or shine; volunteers should come dressed for the weather including long pants and sturdy\, closed-toed shoes. \nVolunteers should plan to bring a water bottle\, snacks\, and sun protection. \nNo previous stewardship crew experience is required; training\, tools\, gloves\, and volunteer parking passes are provided. Registration is required (crew size is limited). \nVolunteers will meet at the worksite; exact meeting location details will be sent out prior to the crew date. \nVolunteer Age Requirement \nVolunteers must be at least 16-years-old. Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 17-years-old are welcome to volunteer without an adult\, but an adult needs to sign their waiver form. \nQuestions? Please contact volunteer@hoytarboretum.org. Come join us for a story and guided walk on the trails at Hoyt Arboretum.\nWe will use all of our senses to explore the natural surroundings and maybe even get our hands dirty!
