Join us for a fun workshop to explore the art of calligraphy with hand-made botanical inks derived from local walnut\, oak\, alder\, and other trees and plants. Taught by Portland-based calligrapher and illustrator\, Molly Chidsey. In this workshop you will learn how ink is made from trees and plants\, what modern calligraphy is and how it is different from handwriting\, how to use a paint brush with natural inks to make shapes and letters\, and how to letter your own name in calligraphy with a natural ink of your choice. DESCRIPTION:The Oregon Zoo is proud to offer FREE admission on Veterans Day for military members\, veterans and their families. Complimentary admission includes up to three tickets per active military personnel/veteran (four tickets total). Families of deployed military personnel will also be given free admission.
