SUMMARY:Arborists in the Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 6\, more than 100 professional arborists from across the Portland region will volunteer their expertise to care for Hoyt Arboretum’s global tree collection. Now in its 38th year\, the Arborists in the Arboretum event has become a beloved tradition in the city’s tree care community — and an essential part of keeping the more than 6\,000 trees at Hoyt Arboretum healthy and thriving. Arborists in the Arboretum begins at 8:00 AM and continues until 12:00 PM on Saturday\, September 6. The Arboretum remains open during its normal hours\, 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Park users are encouraged to stop by the Visitor Center\, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for maps and information about navigating around work sites during the event. Trails around the Redwood Collection including Wildwood Trail will be impacted by arborist work\, and hikers should expect detours to be in place for the duration of the work. While the public cannot directly participate\, visitors are welcome to observe professional tree care activities from a safe distance. Highlights often include arborists climbing into the canopy\, chainsaw work\, and pruning.
