The tree-killing insect emerald ash borer was discovered in Forest Grove last summer and now poses a serious threat to both native Oregon ash, as well as the many introduced ash species planted in our urban forests. On this tour, we’ll explore Hoyt Arboretum’s collection of trees in the genus Fraxinus, learn about diversity within the genus, and discuss likely scenarios for what urban foresters expect will happen to these trees and our urban canopy in coming years.
