Map and Compass Orienteering: Staying Found

It’s easy to get around these days with map apps, but what happens when you don’t have a signal or your phone battery dies? Join Greg Hill at Hoyt Arboretum to learn the basics of land navigation using map, compass, and environmental cues. In the classroom, you will go over simple compass operations, including finding a bearing, following a bearing, and orienting a map. Then head out to the Arboretum to practice your new orienteering skills in the field. This event is coordinated by Hoyt Arboretum, and registration is required through their website.
