Many tai chi moves use images from nature—stable as a pine, flowing like a river, hands moving as clouds. Enjoying tai chi in the Arboretum allows us to connect deeply to that imagery. Each week we will explore movements which are relaxing, help improve focus and balance, and nurture rooted in the moment.
On this tour, we’ll explore Hoyt Arboretum’s collection of trees in the genus Fraxinus, learn about diversity within the genus, and discuss likely scenarios for what urban foresters expect will happen to these trees and our urban canopy in coming years.
Join us from 1:15-2:15pm for an ikebana presentation,” Discovering Geometry in Ikebana: Tenen Chihou-????” by Tomoko Okuyama, Rumiko Fadden and David Komeiji of the Saga Goryu Ikebana North American Branch.
