O-Shogatsu is a time of celebration for the start of a new year and hopes of happiness and prosperity to come. At the Garden, we honor this special festival twice: once in appreciation for our members only on New Year’s Day and then again on January 8 this year with traditional decorations and activities.

Join us for a free musical performance featuring shinobue flute and a piano performance by Maido Mind. This cultural performance will be held from 1:15 to 2:30 pm in the Jordan Schnitzer Japanese Arts Learning Center.

Join us for a live bonsai presentation at the Cathy Rudd Cultural Corner by Andrew Robson, President of the Bonsai Society of Portland, at the Jordan Schnitzer Japanese Arts Learning Center from 1:15 – 2:15pm.

Enjoy a free koto harp performance by Oregon Koto-Kai at 1:15pm at the Cathy Rudd Cultural Corner in the Jordan Schnitzer Japanese Arts Learning Center.
