Volunteer at Hoyt Arboretum to care for our trees and trails with a variety of hands-on stewardship projects.

Projects vary for each crew depending on the needs of the season, but often include invasive species removal, weeding and mulching, trail maintenance, and more. With 189-acres and more than 6,000 trees along 12 miles of trails, volunteers are incredibly important to maintaining Hoyt Arboretum’s tree collection and trail system, and it’s a unique opportunity for volunteers to learn about and care for rare and unusual trees and plants from around the world. Registartion is Required.

Natural Artists: Fall Colors (ages 5-8, outside)

Explore the wonders of trees with an outdoor nature-inspired art class! This class will explore the autumn color palettes of trees through various art mediums, like paint and collage. We will look closely at trees in the Arboretum for inspiration and create unique works of art to bring home. This class is for children ages 5-8 (optional drop-off).

Tai Chi (outside)

When the root is deep, there is no need to fear the wind. Many tai chi moves use images from nature—stable as a pine, flowing like a river, hands moving as clouds. Enjoying tai chi in the Arboretum allows us to connect deeply to that imagery.
