Nature connection and creative expression meet in these weekly Nature Journaling experiences led by artist Elizabeth Higgins. With prompts and gentle guidance, students will explore a different area of the Arboretum each week, recording their observations and inspirations through writing and drawing exercises centered on themes of appreciation and curiosity. A World Tour of Trees

Casey Clapp, of the podcast Completely Arbortrary, will lead a walk around Hoyt Arboretum’s tree collection and spotlight trees from six different continents of the world (we have to skip Antarctica). He will share what makes each tree thrive in its environment as well as key conservation concepts. This walk is sure to be filled with curious facts, stories, and ecological intrigue as you weave your way through the Arboretum and the world. The program will conclude with a social hour at the Stevens Pavilion with Casey. Refreshments will be provided.

Volunteer at Hoyt Arboretum to care for our trees and trails with a variety of hands-on stewardship projects.

Projects vary for each crew depending on the needs of the season, but often include invasive species removal, weeding and mulching, trail maintenance, and more. With 189-acres and more than 6,000 trees along 12 miles of trails, volunteers are incredibly important to maintaining Hoyt Arboretum’s tree collection and trail system, and it’s a unique opportunity for volunteers to learn about and care for rare and unusual trees and plants from around the world. Registartion is Required.
