TriMet rules are in effect and enforced on the TriMet plaza and platform in Washington Park.
Cyclists and drivers share the roads in Washington Park. When biking, always follow traffic laws, ride in the same direction as cars, and stay as far to the right as safely possible. Use hand signals when turning and be aware of pedestrians, especially at crosswalks.
Drivers, please slow down, stay alert, and give cyclists plenty of space when passing. The Park’s winding roads and limited shoulders require extra caution from everyone. Whether you’re on two wheels or four, let’s work together to keep Washington Park safe and enjoyable for all.
The parkwide speed limit is 20 mph, except when posted otherwise. Traffic laws are enforced by Portland Police.
Persons violating Park rules or any rule in City Code Title 20 may be warned, cited, or removed from the Park by Portland Police or Park Rangers.
Be sure to double-check your plate number before starting your parking session. Once a session begins, it can’t be changed. If you realize you entered the wrong plate, go ahead and start a new session right away using the correct one. Parking Enforcement Officers use license plate info to verify payment, so if it doesn’t match, you could get a citation.

Alcohol is not permitted in Washington Park except by permit.
Camping is not permitted in Washington Park, including placing structures like tents. Please do not attach items to trees, like signs or hammocks.
Picking roses, flowers, or any other plants is prohibited. However, Portland Parks and Recreation may issue permits for certain types of foraging.
The use of gas or coal-fired grills/BBQs requires a permit administered by Portland Parks and Recreation.
Permits are required when holding events, like weddings, or performing commercial photography or filming. In addition, engaging in commercial activity like holding private classes or tours in the Park may require a permit. Permits are issued by Portland Parks & Recreation, (503) 823-7529.
