Join Oregon Koto-Kai on a musical journey with the captivating sounds of the Japanese koto. When Oregon Koto-Kai performs during their monthly Cultural Corner demonstrations at the Garden, they feature three musicians and play a 30-minute set. This 90-minute concert will feature performances by over a dozen members of Oregon Koto-Kai. The six pieces in the program will range from traditional Japanese songs to an arrangement of a rock song by Queen. Tickets on sale July 27th.
Members and guests are invited to extended evening hours to experience the Garden’s tranquility in the golden light of sunset.

Tree Time! preschool walks are a safe and fun way to get outside with your little one. Come join us for a story and guided walk on the trails at Hoyt Arboretum.
Join environmental educator Roland Begin for a 90-minute easy-going walk among the native trees and shrubs of the Pacific Northwest. This tour will focus on basic plant identification, their seasonal cycles, as well as their many uses. Registration is required (group size is limited)

When the root is deep, there is no need to fear the wind. Many tai chi moves use images from nature—stable as a pine, flowing like a river, hands moving as clouds. Enjoying tai chi in the Arboretum allows us to connect deeply to that imagery.
Nature connection and creative expression meet in these weekly Nature Journaling experiences led by artist Elizabeth Higgins. With prompts and gentle guidance, students will explore a different area of the Arboretum each week, recording their observations and inspirations through writing and drawing exercises centered on themes of appreciation and curiosity. No experience is necessary.
